Traditionally, Chay-kai also know as the engagement of the boy, is observed by Hindus. The girl's father visits the boy's home accompanied by the pundit, along with some family members and friends. Prayers si offered to Lord Ganesh and the girl's youngest brother gives the boy a gift. Today, Hindus observe a double engagement where rings are exchanged between the boy and the girl,along with other gifts
