Historical Venues for your Engagement Photo Shoot
Weddings have different themes to evoke different feelings and imagery of the bride and groom. As such weddings also bring different energies with it. Fantasy to Reality Bridal Services collaborated with Avanelle Boyce of Callaloo Culture, for a productive partnership. Avanelle is known for her keen sense in capturing the moments that excite and elude us through her photography. In this particular segment, we teamed up with her, as her current project involved photography of historical sites throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
Fantasy to Reality quickly seized the opportunity to be a part of this experience as this could be
beneficial to our clients when selecting venues for their wedding engagement shoot, and also beneficial to Callaloo Culture as our clients can see their work, style and portfolio. They may even request their services as a professional photographer for their wedding! They are that good!
In this blog we will showcase just a few venues as well as the photography by Avanelle, which pays attention to detail and lighting. Truly magnificent work.
Mount Saint Benedict
Also known as The Abbey of Our Lady of Exile is a monastery following the Order of Saint Benedict. This monastery was originally a cocoa plantation that overlooked Tunapuna in East Trinidad, located in the town of St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago.
Mount St Benedict has become one of Trinidad and Tobago’s sacred places. There are some sturdy, well-kept buildings on the property, including the church, a convent and a seminary. The order that oversees the Mount and its ministries are Roman Catholic, but people from several faiths go there to pray, get counsel from the monks, or just to find a place of peace away from the constant whirl of life.

The Bamboo Cathedral
Located in the Tucker Valley is a 300 metre stretch of roadway where the bamboo shoots
bend towards each other above the road, tapering into the sky with their tops
forming arcs similar of those found in
cathedrals.

St. Chads Anglican Church
Located on the Macqueripe
Road in Tucker Valley, Chaguaramas, the remains of this church can be seen. The
church was named after Saint Chad who was an English saint. The original church
that was constructed in 1850 was made of wood but after 18 years it fell into a
state of disrepair and had to be demolished and rebuilt. This church remained
in use until the US Army was given Chaguaramas in 1941 for use as a military
base.
The remains of the
structure gives a sense of history and mystery to the venue which is perfect for
an engagement shoot, if that's the mood. Avanelle's patience, angles and commitment
for these photos were on point as she worked the venue. The church along with
its history of events from an Estate, to the construction of the Church to the
Military post in Trinidad, creates a wonderful sense of our times past and
culture.
